Signs of abuse & neglect at Inglewood Healthcare Center
If your loved one is a resident at Inglewood Healthcare Center and you believe they may be suffering from neglect or abuse, you should look for the following red flags:
- Unexplained injuries such as bruises, cuts, fractures, or bedsores may be signs of abuse or neglect.
- Significant weight loss, malnutrition, or dehydration could indicate neglect.
- Residents should be kept clean and in a sanitary environment — dirty clothing, soiled bedding, or untreated infections may signal neglect.
- Behavioral changes like withdrawal, fear, depression, or agitation may point to abuse.
- Drowsiness, confusion, or worsening health conditions could be signs of overmedication or lack of proper medication, indicating possible neglect or abuse.
- Facilities should be secure to prevent wandering; if residents are found unsupervised or missing, it may suggest neglect.
Common types of nursing home negligence
Understaffing and neglect can be common issues at facilities like Inglewood Healthcare Center. These issues can lead to poor outcomes for residents, including:
- Inadequate or improper staffing can result in residents failing to receive proper nutrition and hydration, which can lead to serious health complications.
- Residents may develop pressure ulcers (or bedsores) and infections due to prolonged immobility and poor hygiene.
- Overworked staff might administer the wrong dosage of medication or fail to provide meds on time, endangering a resident’s health.
- Failing to supervise residents increases the risk of falls, which can cause fractures and breaks, head injuries, and long-term disabilities.
- Neglect can also lead to residents feeling isolated, anxious, and depressed, significantly affecting their overall well-being.
If your loved one has suffered due to neglect or understaffing at Inglewood Healthcare Center, you may need to take legal action to hold the facility accountable.

Who is liable for nursing home abuse & neglect at Inglewood Healthcare Center?
Liability for nursing home abuse and neglect at Inglewood Healthcare Center can be assigned to multiple parties, depending on your particular circumstances. Those who may be held responsible include:
- If Inglewood Healthcare Center is part of a larger corporation, the parent company may be liable for systemic issues like understaffing, inadequate training, or cost-cutting measures that compromise resident care.
- Nursing home administrators must ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Failure to address complaints or enforce proper care standards can make them legally responsible.
- Medical professionals may be held accountable for misdiagnosis, medication errors, or failing to respond to emergencies.
- Staff members who physically, emotionally, or financially abuse residents can face personal liability.
- If the facility outsources medical care, therapy, or maintenance services, those third-party companies may be responsible for negligence or unsafe conditions.
- If a resident is harmed due to a defective medical device or dangerous medication provided by the facility, the manufacturer may share liability.
- While not directly liable, regulatory agencies overseeing nursing homes may face scrutiny if they fail to enforce regulations or respond to complaints about abuse or neglect.
If your loved one has suffered abuse or neglect, legal action may be necessary to hold the facility and responsible parties accountable. Our nursing home abuse attorneys are ready to investigate, gather evidence, and fight for justice.

Both federal and state laws require skilled nursing facilities to provide sufficient and competent nursing staffing to meet the needs of their census populations. The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (“CMS”) monitors and regulates skilled nursing facilities and their various staffing levels. In its regulatory role, CMS created the Five-Star Rating System[1] that calculates various quality measures based on the data that each facility provides to CMS as part of their respective participation in the Medicare program.
According to CMS, “[n]ursing homes with 5 stars are considered to have much above average quality and nursing homes with 1 star are considered to have quality much below average.”[2] Notably, among the most significant factors reviewed by CMS is the “staffing” provided to each facility’s census population. Based on the data provided to CMS, CMS has determined that Inglewood Health Care Center, located at 100 S. Hillcrest Blvd, Inglewood, California, garnered a 2 Star rating for health inspections, which ranks toward the bottom of that scale – “below average.”[3]
On October 27, 2023, this facility was cited for numerous deficiencies, which are available to review in inquiring whether those same deficiencies may apply to you or your loved one (e.g., failing to “assess the resident when there is a significant change in condition,” and “develop and implement a complete care plan that meets all the resident's needs, with timetables and actions that can be measured….”).[4]
